KAWASAKI, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, August 28, 2002 - Tokyo Ohka Kogyo Co., Ltd. (TOK) hereby announces the opening of two representative offices, one in Shanghai, China and the other in Singapore.

The coming years hold promising prospects for continued large-scale investment in China and Southeast Asia in the fields of semiconductors and liquid crystal displays. Under these circumstances, TOK can look forward to an expansion of its business in these two areas. We therefore decided to establish these representative offices and staff them with sales engineers on a full-time basis. It will be the mission of these offices to obtain a firm grasp of the wants and needs of user companies, provide them with detailed information matching those wants and needs, and further deepen customer confidence and trust in us. It should be added that these two new offices will be TOK's first locations of activity in China and Southeast Asia.

Further in the future, we are also considering the establishment of local affiliates in these two areas within the next few years, as well as the initiation of production of photoresist-related chemicals in the Shanghai area. The new offices will provide footing for an expansion of our business centered around photoresist and related chemicals used in the manufacture of semiconductors and liquid crystal displays. With the support of their efforts, we are targeting sales of 5,000 million yen each in China and Southeast Asia in 2005.
